Carbon...Why So Important?
Carbon seems pretty simple and just like the rock shown in the picture above. The abilities of carbon are far more then meets the eye. Ms. Navabi stated that carbon is the building blocks of life as well as that we are all carbon-based life forms. The reason that life can be called carbon-based life is due to the fact that all life forms are built on carbon.
Cells contain 72% water and 25% carbon compounds such as carbohydrates, lipids, nucleic acids, and proteins, which are all macro molecules (large molecules).
The carbon atom is very versatile due to its ability to have 4 stable covalent bonds. Thus allowing the making of different organic compounds (hydrocarbons) as well as macro molecules, which are known as the building blocks of life as well.
Water & Its Properties!
Water. We all know we need water to survive, but what else does can water have to offer us?
First and foremost, all organisms occur in water. So without water, there wouldn't be any living things.
FUN FACT!
Humans are made up of 60%-70% of water! Now that's a lot of water!
Water's chemistry structure allows cohesion and adhesion since the H+ is attracted to the O-, which creates a "sticky" molecule. Cohesion occurs due to the H- bonding between the water molecules allows surface tension. Adhesion is the H- bonding between water molecules and other substances, which creates capillary action.
FUN FACT!
Solid water, ice, is able to float due to its low density compared to liquid water!

The Classic! Ape to Man!
Evolution is scientific theory created by Charles Darwin. His theory explores the possibility of all living organisms sharing a common ancestor. The concept of Survival of the Fittest was born from this theory, seeing as species that survive had the best characteristics and passed them on through generations.
The core of biology is Evolution.
Photosynthesis and Cellular Respiration at its finest! (ft. chloroplasts and mitochondria)
The Sun is exactly like a Duracell battery, except the energy comes in the form of sunlight or light energy. The energy from the Sun allows the process of Photosynthesis and Cellular Respiration as shown in the picture above.
Organization of Life of an Elephant??
The diagram above shows organization levels. The whole system relies on each of these levels, basically without one of these levels the system would fail. As Ms. Navabi stated, if the structure is changed so will the function.
